Pink and Blue Whimsical Christmas
Skip the traditional red, gold, and silver for a pink and blue Christmas Tree! I love to change up my tree a little every year so this year I decided to stray away and bring a little whimsy to an already magical time of the year. You may think it would be hard to decorate for this cotton candy colored theme but it’s actually easier then you think. Starting with the garland.
Felt Ball Garland
When doing this theme I decided I really wanted to go for it including the garland. Since I’m particular about colors I decided to make my own by purchasing the felt balls that I like from an adorable Etsy store called Thicket Company. I purchased 40 of each color and the colors being; aqua, light mind, magenta, baby pink and white. Then I used a large upholstery needle from the craft store to string on embroidery thread. You will most likely take apart the embroidery strands to about half of the threads. It took no time at all to put these together. If you are not the crafty sort, Michaels has a large pom garland in similar colors.
Pink and Blue Ball Ornaments
You can’t have a pink and blue Christmas tree without out pink and blue ornaments. Since I love pink, I already had quite a few ball ornaments that I could use. You don’t need too many of each colors just a few pops throughout. I also added some white to keep it simple and most of us have some regular white ornaments. I also liked that they were different shades and textures to add interest. A few I picked up of each at Michaels and Target but you can buy some pretty inexpensively on Amazon too. I don’t mind that they are plastic since they are inexpensive, easy to store and worry free from pets and small kiddos.
Whimsical Ornaments
After placing the basic ball ornaments I was able to choose some fun ones. Since this was a whimsical pink and blue Christmas tree I was able to use ornaments like unicorns, cupcakes, and a pink penguin. If you have young kiddos especially, I’m sure they will get a kick out of picking out a few brightly colored ones. I picked these up at places like Target, Michaels and local stores along with a few I already have.
Deciding to go the nontraditional route can make for a happy and unique holiday. I hope this post has inspired you to do something like this pink and blue Christmas tree. I even decided to get pink and blue unicorn glitter wrapping paper to match! Having a few items that still fit with the general theme but in fun colors keeps things from feeling a little to out there. Most of all don’t forget to have dun decorating and Happy Holidays!
