This first birthday comes to a close with a cake smash in front of a Peter Rabbit inspired photo backdrop. Watching this little guy enjoy his cake smash will bring a smile to anyone’s face. The icing on the cake is his adorable outfit made by his grandmother. The garden crown was made by his mother, check out her felt Etsy Shop called Wool and Petal for baby banners and wall art. For such a momentous occasion like this first birthday its always great to give everyone a chance to make some memories and take some photos, especially at cake time. This photo wall was easy to make withcarrot fabric, and Peter Rabbit inspired sign to go with it. The fabric for this backdrop was purchased at , this particular carrot print is no longer available but they have a large selection of other carrot and garden inspired print. Most prints are 44″ wide so I order 6 yards, cut the fabric in half and place them side by side and sew a seam in the middle and hem all the edges. Since there is a seam in the middle keep in mind on the pattern you choose so it wont look too disrupted by the seam or you will have to line the pattern up to look like one continuous piece. Having the sign gives something for people to focus around and great as a background for the cake smash. For a tutorial on how to make a sign like this and how to hang the photo wall go here for a tutorial on how I made another sign the same way. My sister had the great idea to add bunny ears as props making the stand alone sign a focal point of the photo wall and get everyone involved with the Peter Rabbit theme, not to mention how cute everyone looks with bunny ears.
This Peter Rabbit photo wall documented this celebration of this first birthday party and creating new memories, but little ones grow so much in the first year so its wonderful to be reminded with photos throughout the year. This chicken wire frame was perfect for displaying these photos and an easy DIY project that only took about 15 minutes. I purchased a frame on sale at Michael’s that was big enough to hold all the photos. Make sure the frame is wood or MDF, if you get a plastic frame you wont be able to staple into it. Also make sure the frame is thick enough the staples don’t pop through in the front. Then I removed the front plastic/glass front and on the inside lip of the frame stapled the chicken wire in, clip away the excess and put the back of the frame in place.
For a fun print in the background you could also put a piece of wrapping paper behind the chicken wire before putting the back on. The more natural colors worked well for this theme. The chicken wire makes clipping the photos a breeze with tiny clothespins that can be purchased at Walmart or local craft store.
This brings our Peter Rabbit themed party to an end. This theme would be great for a baby shower for a boy or even gender neutral shower. I hope these ideas have inspired you for your next gathering as the weather warms up and we begin to enjoy spring.
